Description of push by military to educate troops in WWII; in 1950's, films shown from start to finish so kids sleeping; films not helping, but this film we've watched refers to a study that claims that there is higher level retention (80%) when ideas are read, heard, and seen. This speaks volumes to the potential of integrating media sources in education. Also, this reminds me of how public relations and advertising firms have been working so hard for so long to imbed certain ideas within our heads. They're already doing exactly what many educators have yet to master. Probably because of certain ethical dilemmas that teachers are prone to (e.g., social indoctrinization).
