The Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) Scholarships are announced annually by the Government of Australia through the Australian Agency for International Development
(AUSAID). The purpose of the awards is "to develop leadership and build partnerships and linkages within the Asia-Pacific, while addressing priority development issues of the region." These awards are particularly for those leaders in the region who can influence social and economic reforms in their countries as well as in the Asia-Pacific.
