Post-doctoral Fellowships:
(1) Global Development
(2) Global Governance

The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future... invites applications for up to two post-doctoral research fellows for year-long appointments each, beginning in Fall 2010. Researchers working on issues related to (a) global development and/or (b) global governance are encouraged to apply.

We are interested in candidates with strong analytical skills, substantive knowledge and experience, and an interest and ability to analyze longer-range trends and policy options in a global perspective. The Post-doc Research Fellows will participate and help develop research programs in these areas at the Pardee Center and join a community of scholars who seek to conduct inter-disciplinary, policy-relevant, and future-oriented research that contributes to
long-term improvements in the human condition. Our research seeks to identify, anticipate, and enhance the long-term potential for human development in all its myriad dimensions.

Global Development: Applications are invited from candidates interested in any area of global development, and especially encouraged from those working on issues related to (a) poverty
alleviation programs, (b) human development, (c) urban issues, and (d) development indices and measurement. The Research Fellow will participate in and help develop a research program at the Pardee Center that focuses on the conditions for and characteristics of successful
global development interventions.

Global Governance: Applications are invited from candidates interested in global institutions and global governance, and especially encouraged from those working on ways to strengthen global
development financing and global development institutions, including those of the United Nations family. The Research Fellow will participate in and help develop a research program at the Pardee Center that focuses on the future of global governance.

The post-doctoral research fellows will have the ability to develop their own research projects (including collaborative initiatives) and will conduct original research, produce scholarly publications, and disseminate findings at the Pardee Seminar Series and other venues. The
research fellow will also be expected to participate in other Pardee Center research activities and to participate in the general intellectual life of Boston University.

Applications for the research fellowship are welcome from recent recipients of PhD or equivalent degrees. In special circumstances applications from advanced ABD doctoral candidates may also be considered. The post-doctoral fellowship is a full-time position for up to twelve months. Successful candidates will be expected to work at the Pardee Center for the entirety of their appointment. Boston University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

Candidatures will be considered until the position is filled. Please submit a letter of intent and research interests, a CV, samples of written work, and names of three academic references to: Theresa White (theresaw(at)bu.edu), Center Administrator, Pardee House, 67 Bay State Road, Boston, MA 02215.
