The Humphrey Institute is cooperating with several U.S. and European universities to offer a transatlantic learning experience though the Good Governance Consortium. Humphrey students can attend the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in Austria (WU), the University of Turku in Finland or the University of Cagliari in Italy.
Although language skill acquisition has been part of the program, there will be a sufficient number of courses in English that fluency in the local language is not necessary. The program offers sets of courses at each university that deal with common problems facing the post-industrial countries. Please visit the web page of each university and review possible course offerings.
Participating students enroll and pay as if they were at the Humphrey Institute. Students must take at least six UMN credits (this could be about 12 credits in European systems).
The Good Governance Consortium website at http://ggc.wu-wien.ac.at is a source of basic information on the program, although some of the information posted there may not be entirely up to date.
MPP second year student Rebecca Schwartz studied in Vienna during the spring 2010 semester and is still there interning with the IAEA. If you would like to contact her, please email to her UMN account.
If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact me as soon as possible.
