Subject: Fellowship Announcements

The Pacific Forum CSIS would like to announce the opening of the application process for two separate fellowships.

Vasey Fellowship Program

The Pacific Forum CSIS is now accepting applications for the Lloyd R. and Lilian Vasey Fellowship Program. The fellowship period is from 3 to 12 months and applicants should be prepared to begin residency April 1, 2011. Applications are due Feb. 15, 2011.

The Vasey Fellowship was established to honor the founder of the Pacific Forum, RADM (USN, Ret.) Joe Vasey and his wife Lilian, and their ambition to build a better relationship between US and Asia. It aims to give young Asian scholars the opportunity to expand their knowledge of US-Asia economic, security, and policy issues. Vasey Fellows will join the Pacific Forum office in Honolulu, Hawaii where they will serve as junior researchers and assist with Pacific Forum projects and programs. They will also be given the chance to attend Pacific Forum conferences world as part of the Pacific Forum Young Leaders program (http://csis.org/program/young-leaders-program). Vasey Fellows will be given a modest cost-of-living stipend of $2,000 a month, but are otherwise expected to be able to support themselves financially.

Eligibility for the Vasey Fellowship includes the following requirements:

* Applicants must be from East Asia (US citizens are not eligible).
* Applicants must possess at least a Bachelor's degree by the start of the Fellowship.
* Applicants must be proficient in English (verbal and written skills).
