Professor Sonia Ospina suggested that I reach out to you regarding an upcoming opportunity for university students and recent college graduates at New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service (NYU Wagner). The Research Center for Leadership in Action (RCLA) at NYU Wagner, for which Sonia is the faculty director, is now recruiting for the Global Social Change Leadership Institute being held July 10-23, 2011, in New York City.

The Institute offers emerging leaders a chance to develop practical knowledge and skills to advance social justice in their communities. The curriculum draws on more than seven years of research RCLA has conducted with award-winning social change organizations about the essential role these nonprofits play in an informed and engaged civil society. Program participants learn from experts at the forefront of policy reform and advocacy, coalition building and direct service. Interactive workshops are paired with site visits throughout New York City so that these leaders gain a deeper understanding of both the theory and practice of leadership and social change. They also have the opportunity to develop relationships with a broad network of committed advocates working on social justice issues.

Students emerge with an understanding of social change leadership practices, an action plan to address an issue in their school or community and a network of other advocates committed to making change in their communities.

Please share this information about the program with your students or any recent graduates who might be interested in social change.

I would sincerely appreciate it if you could forward this email and/or share the link with any university students and recent graduates you think might be interested. If you have any questions, please let me know. You can also contact the Caitlin Murphy, RCLA program coordinator, directly at leadership.institute(at)nyu.edu or (+1) 212.998.7452.
