Who will win the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize? Contest to pick the winner

Did you know that the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner will be selected next week? The official announcement will be issued by the Nobel Committee the morning of Friday, October 7th (9:00 AM GMT, 4:00 AM CST - View the full Nobel prize award schedule).

Each year, people speculate about who will win the award, so we're curious to know who you've heard people talking about as a likely winner. We've setup a Facebook discussion thread here, so post your guess and you might win a signed photograph of you shaking hands with Dr. Geir Lundestad, Secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, during the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize forum (March 1-4 in Minneapolis)! Please keep your comments positive and fun. We're looking for constructive speculation, not critical statements about who should or shouldn't win.

The contest will run from today until the Nobel Peace Prize winner is announced on Friday, October 7. We will select up to five winners based on the following criteria:
The first two people to correctly guess the name of the individual who actually wins the Nobel Peace Prize Award.

Three randomly selected names from the pool of people who posted a guess on Facebook.

Disclaimer: As you might guess, the work of the Nobel Peace Prize Forum does not influence the Nobel Committee selection process. This contest is just for fun.

As always, keep track of us online and make sure your friends, family, and colleagues are on our email list so they can receive the latest updates as well.

P.S. The Norwegian Nobel Institute will have a live video stream of the announcements as they occur over the course of the week. You can watch it here: http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/about/prize_announcements/

Sincerely,
Maureen K. Reed, M.D., Executive Director, Nobel Peace Prize Forum
