Tips on looking for an aid internship from Devex

Unpaid internships are an often way to break out of the catch 22 situation of not being able get a job without experience. Unfortunately this can be harder than it sounds as development internships can be extremely competitive.

At Devex, we want to help you turn your passion into your profession so we have canvassed some of the world's leading development recruiters and successful interns, on your behalf, for their top tips to help you get your foot in the door and your CV at the top of the pile.

Here are our top five internship advice articles:

How to Network Your Way to an Aid Internship
USAID Internships: Who's Eligible, and How to Apply Successfully (webinar clip)
Network Your Way into the UN
World Bank Internships: When to Apply & What to Expect (webinar clip)
UNICEF's Main Hiring Needs (webinar clip)

You'll need to provide your name and email to access some of these articles, but that's no biggie because my second tip for you is to create an email alert for the specific organization/industry you are interested in working in. This alert delivers the latest news of your interest straight to your inbox allowing you to keep up-to-date and competitive. You can also do this for career advice articles, events and business news. After you create your account, just go to the Alerts section at the top-right corner and explore!

Lastly, make sure you can be found by development recruiters searching our database for candidates by uploading your CV (don't worry access is strictly recruiters only and your CV can't be 'googled').

I hope you found these tips useful, if you'd like to get more tips like this that can help you land your dream job then register on Devex.

Good luck with the job hunt!
