NORC at the University of Chicago seeks a Research Assistant to support the International Projects Department in Bethesda, Maryland or Chicago, Illinois.

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will support senior technical staff in designing and implementing evaluation projects and data collection and analysis activities.
S/he will also work closely with NORC's senior statisticians and evaluation specialists in various tasks related to NORC's international evaluation and survey projects.
Specific responsibilities may include design of survey instruments and training materials, coordination of and assistance to interviewer training activities, sample design and selection, literature reviews, data quality reviews of survey data with detailed documentation of results, and analysis of primary and secondary data including preparation of reports, memos, and tables/graphs of findings.
The position may require occasional international travel and offers an opportunity to gain first-hand field experience.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree
Strong quantitative skills
Strong command of statistical packages, such as SPSS and STATA
Strong proficiency with MS Office software, including Excel
Working proficiency with French
Strong analytic and report writing skills
Outstanding interpersonal and critical reasoning skills
Experience working with large datasets, conducting data quality review and data analysis preferred
International experience preferred
