CHF International's mission is to be a catalyst for long-lasting positive change in low- and moderate-income communities around the world helping them improve their social, economic, and environmental conditions.
CHF's Global Staffing Team is seeking unpaid interns for the fall and spring semesters. Students will learn to read requests for proposals, interpret donor requirements, and determine candidate requirements related to bid strategy. Students will gain valuable insight into how donor funded projects are created and staffed by gaining an understanding of how the donor funded procurement process works.
These positions are located at our Headquarters which is conveniently located about two blocks from the Silver Spring Metro. These are unpaid positions with flexible hours, requiring a minimum of 8 hours a week. Students with internship degree requirements are urged to apply. CHF will cooperate with educational requirements.
Learning Objectives
This internship will:
Provide exposure to a not-for-profit international development organization.
Enhance the intern's ability to read, understand and analyze RFAs and RFPs released by USAID and other donors.
Give the intern the opportunity to attend meetings with the proposal team to learn about proposal development and proposal strategy.
Give the intern insight into relevant country and sector issues as outlined in donor procurements, expose the intern to technical writing and proposal support.
Allow the intern to view opportunities from key funding agencies.
Determine candidate requirements related to bid strategy.
Qualifications:
Be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program in International Development or Related Field which requires an internship.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact with all levels of staff in a professional manner.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Strong research and writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Ability to read and interpret documents.
US Work authorization required.
