Organization Background:
The Global Campaign for Education-US (GCE-US) is a broad-based coalition of US based NGOs, faith-based groups, teachers unions, student groups, academic institutions, think tanks, and foundations dedicated to ensuring access to quality education in developing countries. GCE-US promotes access to education as a basic human right and mobilizes the public to create political will to improve education
for children around the world.

Position Summary:
The Campaign Director will work closely with the GCE-US Leadership Council, coalition members, and other staff to advance GCE's agenda with key decision-makers and build a strong base of grassroots and grasstops support for Education for All (EFA) around the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coalition Building:
•Expand GCE-US coalition membership through outreach to organizations
•Leverage the involvement of coalition members and expand outreach to U.S. constituencies
•Represent GCE-US at national and international meetings, conferences and public events

•Ensure global education and GCE-US have increased coverage in politically relevant media
•Draft and edit op-eds and talking points
•Outreach and conduct interviews with and foreign policy and international development reporters
•Manage campaign communications in coordination with the Campaign Associate, including bi-monthly campaign e-newsletters as well as posts on social media accounts
•Organize nation-wide and DC based events to raise the profile of EFA
with the media and policymakers.

•Raise the profile of Education for All and of GCE-US across the country and with key policy makers in DC
•Organize nation-wide and DC based events to raise the profile of EFA with the media and policymakers
•Inform and advise the Leadership Council and coalition members of policy recommendations on an ongoing basis
•Work with GCE-US partners to stay abreast of developments in international education policy, synthesize policy information and provide analysis
•Lead the process of drafting policy and opinion papers for the coalition through consultation with the Leadership Council and
coalition members

Organization and Staff Management:
•Lead the process of developing a strategic plan for the campaign, in consultation with the coalition
•Manage campaign budget and oversee reporting to the Leadership Council and funders
•Manage campaign associate and consultants (including online, communications, and media consultants)
•Act as the GCE-US liaison with the Global Campaign for Education Secretariat in Johannesburg as well as with other GCE Coalitions around the world.

•Experience in developing and managing national advocacy campaigns and
experience with global education policy or global development required
•6-8 years policy-related experience with a non-profit or in government
•Bachelor's degree required, with relevant advanced degree preferred
•Familiarity with coalition management a plus
•Strong oral communication, analytical, and writing skills
•Strong interpersonal and management skills, flexibility, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Salary based on experience, including an excellent benefits package. The position is based in Washington, DC with some travel required.
