The International Migration Institute (IMI) is seeking to appoint a research officer to work on a new research project on the 'Drivers and Dynamics of High-Skilled International Migration', funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The successful candidate will play a central role in designing and implementing the 'International Survey on the Mobility of Student and Academics' (ISMOSA) including subsequent analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. The candidate will closely cooperate with Dr Mathias Czaika (leading ISMOSA) and other project staff in designing and implementing an international web-based survey and expert (video) interviews with university officials; data analysis; and writing of working papers and scientific articles.

Together with the other research officer on this project responsible for the MIGRASKIL analyses, the post holder is responsible for the timely preparation of narrative and financial project reports.

Qualifications for the position include a doctorate in sociology, economics or other social science discipline with experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, particularly with regards to (web-based) surveys, strong skills in statistical data analysis (econometrics), and excellent communication and writing skills. Based in Oxford, the post requires only limited travel. This full-time post is for 30 months, to start on 1 March 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.
