INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY - Outreach and Events Intern (P/T)
The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) seeks a part-time outreach and events intern to assist in the operations of the NYC office. IEP is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research organization dedicated to shifting the world's focus to peace as a positive, achievable, and tangible measure of human wellbeing and progress. It develops new conceptual frameworks to define peacefulness; provides metrics for measurement;
uncovers the relationship between peace, business, and prosperity; and promotes a better understanding of the social, economic, and political factors that drive peacefulness.
IEP's research is used by governments, academic institutions, think tanks and NGOs worldwide, and by intergovernmental institutions such as the OECD, the United Nations and the World Bank. IEP conducts research, develops educational resources, generates dialogue, and publicizes the output of its activities with a view to impacting the public agenda. It produces the US and Global Peace indexes, which measure levels of peacefulness at the national, regional, and local levels.
Responsibilities
The intern's primary responsibilities are to assist in event planning, outreach, and social networking for IEP's upcoming releases, including the 2012 US Peace Index and 2012 Global Peace Index. The intern will also be responsible for stakeholder management and outreach for IEP's education materials.
