Position Microfinance Portfolio Manager

Location: Washington, DC

About RI: Relief International (RI) is an international relief and development agency with cross-sectoral programs bridging relief and development. The Social Enterprise Department brings to scale income-generating innovations that create social and environmental impact.

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the VP, Social Enterprise, manage RI's microfinance portfolio inclusive of performance reporting, business and strategy development, instituting proper corporate governance processes, identifying and implementing business process improvements, and leading new business opportunities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Identify and secure additional sources of capital (debt and equity) beyond the traditional donor base and develop and maintain a database of potential partners.
Ensure accuracy, consistency and timeliness of financial and performance-oriented reports (quantitative/qualitative, financial/social).
Update the strategic planning process through an annual business plan, design financial projections/budgets, and provide performance analysis.
Work with partners and stakeholders on a transformation diagnostic for largest MFI in Iraq - a thorough review of institutional readiness (MIS, HR, Finance, Internal Control, Governance, Risk, Management capacity, etc.) for transformation and identify gaps and capacity needs for strengthening.
Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, identify areas of strength and weakness to improve overall performance, working with technical assistance providers where applicable.
Work with VP to establish corporate governance infrastructure inclusive of executive, finance and internal audit functions.
Write concepts, business plans, and reports for microfinance programming; as well develop proposals to traditional donor base where appropriate.
Coordinate implementation and program development with Finance, Grants, Program and Program Development Departments
Conduct specialized research for business development and planning
Travel as necessary to assist in program implementation, design and build partnerships (25-50%)
Other responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment:

B.A/Sc. in economics, finance or development, or other related field, MBA preferred
Strong financial analysis skills, ability to construct financial models, ability to choose and calculate relevant performance ratios
Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
Experience with Microfin, FRAME, and similar tools
Excellent oral, writing and presentation skills, able to highlight and explain relevant data
A minimum of 5 years of microfinance experience preferred
Knowledge of best practice microfinance industry standards - required.
Arabic language skills helpful, but not required
