The Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control, a small non-profit research and advocacy organization in Washington, DC, has an opening for an Operations Manager. This person would be responsible for IT, budgeting, personnel matters, subscriber relations, and office administration. The position is half-time.
The Manager would be responsible for the organization's IT needs, including overseeing the IT contractor, coordinating monthly in-office visits by the contractor, and basic IT set-up for new hires. The Manager would prepare budgets for both private and government grants, and would assist the executive director in narrative and financial reporting and in drafting proposals. The Manager would help recruit personnel, and would help conduct intern reviews and annual performance reviews for staff. Concerning subscriber relations, the Manager would be responsible for maintaining relations with existing subscribers to the Wisconsin Project's publications and for attracting new subscribers. In addition to these duties, the Manager would assist the Executive Director in administrative tasks such as planning and preparing board meetings and roundtables, updating benefits policies, working with the Project's broker on insurance issues, and overseeing special projects such as suite renovation and telephone upgrades.
A candidate for this position should have a strong academic background with at least a bachelor's degree. A candidate should also be a mature professional with at least 5 years' experience providing program and/or administrative support, and must be able to provide support of a responsible and confidential nature. Knowledge of programs in the Microsoft Office suite and aptitude with computers is required. Candidates familiar with constituent management programs and with publication design software are preferred.
