IREX Senior Civil Society Advisor (Wash DC)

The Senior Civil Society Advisor works with the Media, Technology and Civil Society Division Vice President and New Business Development team to design approaches to international civil society development challenges. The advisor conducts needs assessments, develops partnerships and conceptualizes programs to respond to funding opportunities. The position is critical to successful implementation of IREX's strategies for expanding its work in civil society development.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Principle responsibilities include:
Provide technical expertise to development of civil society programming
Lead and support teams designing and preparing proposals in response to donor funding opportunities
Conduct international needs assessment missions
Develop partnerships with local, regional and international organizations
Contribute to conceptualizing and executing IREX's strategy for expanding its work in civil society development, including identifying and analyzing opportunities, tracking trends in technical requirements and funding patterns, and networking with partners and technical experts
Expand and update IREX's technical capacity in multiple areas of civil society strengthening and related development practices
Represent IREX's technical expertise at conferences and other events

QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated technical acumen in civil society strengthening as an international development priority, with significant expertise in one or more subfields
Success in the design and preparation of proposals for donor organizations, including USAID and other U.S. government agencies strongly preferred
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Experience in conducting needs assessments, including interviewing and data analysis
One or more extended international assignment strongly preferred
Experience in development practices including monitoring and evaluation, project design and management and/or budgeting strongly preferred
Geographic expertise and/or proficiency in a second language preferred
