2013 Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Exam Dates and Confucius Institute Scholarships

Considering studying in China? The Confucius Institute offers full scholarships for semester, year-long, and Masters of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) study programs at various universities across China. All scholarship applications require an HSK score, so register soon to receive your scores before the April, 2013 application deadlines.

About the HSK
The HSK is a standardized international Chinese proficiency test for non-native speakers. Test results may be used to:
• determine eligibility for scholarship and study abroad opportunities
• boost resumes and qualify for certain positions
• be exempt from certain courses or earn credit at some universities

Upcoming HSK Exam Dates

Saturday, January 12, 2013
Registration deadline: Tuesday, January 1, 2013
All levels of the online written HSK exam will be offered on January 12, 2013. If you plan to apply for 2013-14 Confucius Institute scholarships and have not yet taken the HSK, it is strongly recommended that you take the HSK on this date to receive your scores before the scholarship deadlines.To register, follow the instructions on the Confucius Institute HSK webpage under "Online Test."

Registration deadline: Wednesday, October 9, 2013
All levels of the online written and oral HSK exam will be offered on October 20, 2013. Registration for this exam date will not open until after the January 12 HSK exam. To register, follow the instructions on the Confucius Institute HSK webpage under "Online Test."

If you are interested in having the Confucius Institute administer the paper-based HSK exam to a group of 20 or more students the week of May 12, 2013, please contact Emily Hanson at hans0996@umn.edu before April 19, 2013.
