WHOSE UNIVERSITY?

Whose education?
Whose voices are heard?

As the University of Minnesota pursues a path toward becoming an elite, global research institution, it is becoming more visibly exclusive. The Whose University? Campaign is organizing students, educators, workers, and community members to challenge this institution's priorities in equal access and resources for underrepresented groups.  This semester we began production of adocumentary-style film which will be released next fall.

UWOC Cookbook: Submit a Recipe by August 30, 2010

University Women of Color (UWOC) is very excited to announce our 10th Anniversary Celebration this upcoming 2010-11 academic year! The UWOC Council is planning several celebratory event opportunities to commemorate our 10th year existence on the Twin Cities campus at the University of Minnesota. More information and details on the anniversary events will be announced in September, 2010. UWOC can hardly wait, and we look forward to celebrating our 10th year with all women of color on campus!

As part of our planned fundraising opportunities, to make our 10th Anniversary a memorable occasion, we are soliciting your assistance in the publication (and future purchase) of a cookbook to celebrate the varied ethnic food cultures of women of color on campus. To that end, we are asking if you would submit your favorite family, personal, or modified recipe(s) for this unique ethnic cookbook. Along with your recipe, you have the option to submit a quote (words of wisdom) or personal dedication, which would be printed on the same page as your recipe(s), should it be selected for inclusion in the cookbook. Your name and department on campus would also accompany your recipe.

Below are the recipe categories we are soliciting, and please feel free to submit recipe(s) in more than one category:
o    Beverages
o    Appetizers  o    Soups
o    Salads
o    Breads
o    Main dishes
o    Side dishes
o    Desserts
Please submit all recipes to uwoc@umn.edu by Monday, August 30, 2010. For your submission, your name will be entered into a drawing for a free cookbook!

Thank you in advance for your participation in celebrating ten years on campus!
