International Education Week: Veranstaltungen

Diese Woche ist International Education Week.
International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Department of Education. It is a part of an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and to attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

HEUTE, 6-9 p.m.: Debate and Cultural Celebration - Coffman Memorial Union Theater and Annex
6 p.m.: Cultural fair and reception—different organizations will set up exhibits with their ethnic flair. (Appetizers provided with a donation of a can of food or $1.)
7:30 p.m.: Speakers will discuss pertinent international issues (such as the AIDS crisis).
8 p.m.: Debate—"Should the University make study abroad mandatory?"

International Movie Night: "My Life As A Dog" (ein GUTER Film!)
In this Swedish film, Ingemar lives with his brother and his terminally ill mother. He may have a rough time, but not as bad as Laika--the Russian dog sent into space...He gets sent away to stay with relations for the summer. While there, he meets various strange characters, giving him experiences that will affect him for the rest of his life.

International Show & Tell: Share Your International Story
Bring your bag lunch and an item or story to "show & tell." Drinks and cookies will be provided. "Show & Tell" is an American school activity in which a student brings an item to class to talk about with other students. "International Show & Tell" is our version of sharing international experiences.
If you are an international student or scholar, we invite you to share your travel experiences, share your experiences of being in the United States, or your favorite thing you miss about your home country. If you are an American who has traveled abroad, we invite you to share your experiences, photos, post cards, or stories. Bring in a favorite item to show and tell! Everyone is welcome!
