Commencement ceremonies for graduate students will transition from the Graduate School to collegiate ceremonies beginning this academic year, 2010-11. This decision follows from the June 2009 recommendation of President Bruininks Renewing Graduate and Professional Education (p. 4, no. 7). The final decision was communicated in a message from Provost Sullivan to the deans on October 4.
While discontinuing the Graduate School's separate commencement is not ideal for all colleges, there is broad recognition of the benefit of linking the University's highest degree recipients more closely with their faculty and advisers in this important event.
Commencement dates hosted by the colleges will be posted below as they are announced.

College commencement dates
The College of Biological Sciences, College of Liberal Arts, and College of Science and Engineering will host a joint commencement ceremony for their graduate students on April 29. Contacts are Elizabeth Wroblewski for CBS, Wendy Friedmeyer for CLA, and Jill Johnson for CSE.
The College of Education and Human Development is planning a commencement ceremony for graduate and professional students on May 12 back to back with its commencement ceremony for undergraduates. Contact Selina Wright.
The College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences date is to be determined. The CFANS contact is Lisa Wiley.
