Create an inspiration list.

This can include anything from music to movies to friends, family, food, activities, etc... Post it to the blog. Be as specific as you want to be. This will be helpful to you as you begin to create more work this semester.

Also, visit ONE event at the Spark festival and write a response to it in 150 words. Here is the schedule online. I highly recommend the urban caravan bicycle tour. Here are some links to get you excited. There will also be works exhibited around the building.

Why You Should Never Trust a Squirrel
By Joy Erickson
Most people are unaware of how dangerous squirrels are to civilized society. Their cuteness hides degenerate souls that are constantly up to trickery. I have compiled a list of videos to show you why you should never trust a squirrel and I hope this can serve as a lesson for all of us that are fooled by their adorableness.

Reason #1: They like to drink... a lot.

Reason #2: They are prone to violence.

Reason #3: They like soccer.

Reason # 4: They steal from babies.

Reason # 5: They're just not that smart.

Reason #6: Their flatulence may cause the next ice age.

Reason #7: They have set up secret training courses to build armies that will take over the world.

Syllabus Change!

Hello all!

I've changed the schedule a bit. Our next assignment will be the sound assignment, rather than the animation assignment, as I stated at the beginning of class. I've done this so that you will be able to include sound in your animations. I'll explain more on Monday. Here it is again! Check back for more updates!

Have a great weekend!

The Digital Service Bureau

office-space-copier.jpg

Anyone who is interested in using the DSB (Digital Service Bureau for Learning) to print digital files must attend a training session/demo.

For Fall 2010 the training sessions are as follows:

Tues Sept 28th 5pm
Sat Oct 2nd 11am

2 more sessions during the day will be scheduled shortly.
Please see our blog: http://blog.lib.umn.edu/dsb/dsb/
for the updated schedule

Please e-mail dsb@umn.edu to sign up for a training session.
Sessions will take about 1 hour and will be held in the DSB W138

If you are unsure if you will need the DSB services for the remainder of the semester we highly recommend you attend one of the sessions as there will be no other training sessions after midterm and you cannot use the DSB unless you have attended a training session first. Training is not done on a walk in basis.

Users who do not need to be trained: If you have had a digital photo class or have been trained in /used the DSB last semester. As long as you use the DSB at least once every semester you do not need to be trained in again. When in doubt contact the DSB, dsb@umn.edu, to see if you are required to attend a training session or not.

Thank you

This is what it should look like in the body of your blog entry.

Here is an updated schedule for class, as it is subject to change. I pushed up the due date for the Photoshop project, as I think you may need more time for the Animation project which is coming up in October.

Check out the website Learning to Love You More by clicking on the link. Go through some of the assignments that sound interesting.

1 - Which assignment do you find the most interesting and why? Do you find any of the assignments interesting?

2 - Write your own assignment. Don't feel limited within the boundaries of the fine arts institution.

Due 9.20 - we'll push back the artist viewings on this day to the following week.

Photoshop Project

A - Bring in three images that tell a story. If you have to photocopy or scan any photographs from home, please do so. The images can be from magazines, newspapers, or hand drawn. There is a scanner in the classroom.
B - You will tell your story with the images you provide to someone else in the class and give those images to that person. The story can be a true story or completely made up. Take some time to create the story with the images. Please don't come in with one sentence for each image.
C - If you have a question about what an image means, please ask, but don't feel limited to using that image within its original context. Photoshop the three images in any way you like. Be inventive with the original story and try to stretch your own interpretation of what was told to you and how you view that person's story. Feel free to add, subtract, draw on, photocopy, scan, paint or do anything else you wish to them.
