This piece reminded me of something you might find in one of those white noise machines people use to fall asleep. It’s subtle, but very busy during the first 40 seconds. Most of what’s going on during that time goes unnoticed, but when you listen for the 2nd or third time you begin to be able to recognize individual conversations and notice things you didn't before. For example, the first voice you hear is Matt Damon talking about Sarah Palin, and from there on you hear conversations about getting to class, or about movies, and all balled together to sound like a busy street scene. I like the transition from the busy start to the bird chirping, it feels gradual but happens very suddenly. After that point the rest of the piece is very relaxing and simple and natural. The contrast is very noticeable between the busy start and the calm end of the piece, which supports the title. I think the piece worked quite well at demonstrating its meaning.
