welcome to the council of dvds final report.
i had blockbuster totalaccess for 12 of my 14-day trial. in this time, i received 2 "wrong" dvds and 2 "broken" dvds. the shows i yearn to watch are demarked as "short wait" or "long wait" and never shipped. furthermore, the in-store free rentals[apparent perk] rarely provide what i want.
are these problems just as prevalent with american start-up netflix [up and coming]???
the council decision: no
code: 74ð
**UPDATE**
upon the unanimous advice of the council, i quit blockbuster and will enlist in netflix. thanks to all participants.
Netflix is great -- we just watched Idiocracy (prescient movie) -- but we have yet to try their online service.
Posted by: Underblog at January 27, 2007 09:14 AMi just got two thumbs up (two different people's thumbs) for netflix while on the phone this morning...
Posted by: gb at January 27, 2007 11:26 AMthough i bemoan the take-over of the family movie rental store by such behemoths as Netflix, i will admit to having joined recently due to a dearth of video stores in my area (except for nasty BlockLuster). i have only had excellent service and reliability from netflix; all my film choices are immediately available (which might say more about me than about netflix) and i'm confident none of my films is censored!). i'd say drop that B.B. trial on its no good butt, and run! if you join, i'll invite you to be my netflix friend if you'd like!
Posted by: dsplit at January 27, 2007 01:17 PMdo you get something for inviting me? can we recommend movies to each other? i don't believe netflix friends actually exist.
Posted by: gb at January 27, 2007 03:26 PMthis isn't about netflix or blockbuster...but just wanted to say thanks for the fun e-mails. & your blog is providing me with fun distractions. hopefully i'll see you tomorrow in a fancy wheelchair. hug. :)
Posted by: laura at January 27, 2007 04:07 PMmy parents like netflix. and they went to college.

Posted by: jonnee at January 27, 2007 07:56 PMGB are you writing fake commments from girls we don't know????
Posted by: jonnee at January 27, 2007 07:57 PMi would never do that.... although i am a little worried she wants to see me in a wheelchair!!!
Posted by: gb at January 27, 2007 11:49 PMDo I detect a note of jealousy in jonnee's interogatory?
Posted by: Underblog at January 28, 2007 07:11 PMAm I too late? I *heart* netflix. I would love to be your netflix friend. You never have to leave your house and great movies are at your fingertips! Never had a major problem and if the DVD arrives broken, they send a new one out right away.
Posted by: Monday at January 28, 2007 09:26 PMhell yeh -- i hate it when steve's attention wanders from the office.
