Post Master's DNP

Many of you have asked about how you can make the transition to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. We are pleased to announce an opportunity for you to begin taking post-master鈥檚 DNP courses now. In the near future we will also announce a way in which you can make a formal application for admission to the program.

The post-master鈥檚 DNP program requires that you complete 36 credits of course work as portrayed on the attached sample program plan. All courses are offered using an 鈥渆xecutive鈥? model. That means that all courses are web-based with 2-3 intensive on-campus sessions per semester offered on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Attendance at the on-campus sessions is mandatory.

The following courses are available for you now before making a formal application.

路 Nurse 5115: Informatics

路 Nurs 6100: Evidence-Based Practice

路 Nurs 7200: Economics of Health Care

路 Nurs 7400: Health Policy Leadership

路 Nurs 7900: Scholarship of Teaching & Learning in Nursing

路 Nurs 8241: Health Care Leadership for a Changing World

路 PH 6320 Epidemiology (offered every term)

Beginning in 2009, the DNP will be the only pathway to advanced practice specialization at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. We hope you will take advantage of this special opportunity to achieve the highest degree for the practice of our discipline.

Please feel free to contact me or your advisor if you have questions about making the transition.

Best wishes,
