Mental Health Training: For Students Who Want to Help Others

The Stamp Out Stigma Committee and the Provost's Committee on Mental Health are offering a mental health training for students on April 6, 2011 from 7:30 -8:30 pm in the Mississippi Room of Coffman Memorial Union.

Students who receive the training will have an opportunity in the future to provide similar training to other students.

Our training will highlight:

- the state of mental health issues on campus,
- the valuable role that students play in a broad public health approach to mental health,
- the existing campus resources that can support them when they want to help other students, and
- the information available on the mental health web site at www.mentalhealth.umn.edu and effective ways for students to identify, approach, support and refer fellow students in distress.

The trainers for this session will be Barbara Blacklock, MA, Disability
Services, Gary Christenson, MD, Boynton Mental Health, and Salina Renninger, Ph.D., University Counseling & Consulting Services. Questions? Call 612 624-5862.
