Learn more about clinical research in this exciting course, designed to give you an introduction to the field.
AHS 2300: Orientation to Clinical Research is intended for pre-health students interested in clinical research and careers in the health professions. This seminar introduces pre-health students to the field of clinical research, ethical conduct and professionalism, and clinical research methods pertinent to dentistry, medicine, public health, pharmacy, and nursing. In addition to biweekly lectures, students will participate in a supervised field experience at a University clinical research center.
This course prepares students to begin a University Research Opportunities Program (UROP) grant in clinical research.
Prerequisites:
Enrollment in this course is limited. Prerequisite requirements include:
• Application
• Status as a sophomore or second year student in Fall 2011
• Cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5
• Two references, including one from an academic adviser
• Interview
Please complete the brief application by Monday, March 28, 2011. Students who meet application criteria will be invited for interviews beginning in early April and those who are selected for the course will be notified by Thursday, April 14, 2011.
