Biggest Loser: Couples
The episode that I watched aired on Tuesday night from 7-9pm on NBC. On this episode, contestants were able to go home for a week and totally be away from camp. The trick was to stick to what they had learned at camp and apply it to their daily lives. It was totally up to the contestants to be able to stick to their plans without the help of their trainers. When they returned to camp, they had to do a challenge and the losing team had to chose 2 contestants to weigh in 24 hours early.
Likes:
-I liked seeing people changing their lives for the better and improving their overall health
-I liked the way the show depicted that weight loss isn't an instant success...it is something that you have to work hard at and it isn't going to happen overnight
Dislikes:
-the success of the contestants was sort of unrealistic in a way...who really works out 2 hours a day and loses 16 pounds over the course of a week?
-I also didn't like the fact that the trainers were so negative after the contestants were away at home for a week. They acted like just because somebody had 2 glasses of wine in a week that they were going to ruin the competition for the whole team when that wasn't the case at all
Law and Order: SVU
This episode was from season 9 and was titled "Svengali". In this epsiode, a college girl named Tina Snow is murdered and detectives believe that it is linked to Robert Morton, who is currently in prison. Later on, a second victim, Cecilia, is believed to be attacked by the same murderer as Tina, but later viewers find out that it was Cecilia that killed Tina and that she did it simply because Robert Morton told her to do it.
Likes:
-I liked watching the process of "solving a crime"
-I liked how the show leads you to think that somebody else comitted the crime but then the plot steers you in a completely different direction and proves that somebody else comitted the crime
Dislikes:
-this episode was sort of gory, especially with the depiction of the paintings that were painted in blood on the floor when the detectives arrived at the crime scene
-I didn't like the fact that the show depicted that the comic book that Robert Morton authored was the reason that detectives were able to solve the murder. I think that this just made the process look too easy
What Not to Wear
On this episode, Stacy and Clinton made over a middle school teacher. She tended to dress i very juvenile clothes that made her look like a student herself. Another trend that she was responsible for? The bra strap necklace!! Stacy and Clinton show her that she can look better but still have a young look about her.
Likes:
-I liked how they showed her how to take pieces for her wardrobe and mix and match
-I also liked that they showed her how to still look young but put together
Dislikes:
-I didn't like the fact that they took her to stores that are way out of many of our price ranges. If I went to New York City and tried to recreate this look, is it something that I could really afford? I think that many of the articles of clothing that they put her in and that I liked so very much, I would have to work for a month just to afford it. I think they should have showed her shopping at more affordable, everyday stores that so many of the viewers actually shop at.
