Foreward: this was my sunday afternoon.
1.Supernanny "Dostal Family" original air date: 2/6/08
Likes: I love Jo Frost, the host. She is my hero. I want her job.
This episode was about a family of four. The mom and dad were considering divorce before Jo stepped in. The fact that the dad had no patience and became overly aggressive was not lost on jo. This show is extremely care-giver oriented because it stresses behavioral management and communication with kids etc. but it is not gender specific. I think that it is well done and educational for all who want kids, or want to work with them.
Dislikes: They showed the mom crying. A LOT. To me this woman is clearly raising two kids- one very aggressive boy and one calm girl- and she has a crappy husband- she has every right to be stressed out. However- she was doing all the right stuff with her kids, and she knew her husband was a creep, i thought she was a pretty tough lady. In the end they decided to stay together, and that's fine, i guess, but he was a loser, and I wish that instead jo would've kicked him out and taught her single mom tricks instead.
2. Hannah Montana: I on-demanded this one, and i dont remember the name, but the premise is that hannah wants her "tomboy" friend to be more "girly".
Likes: in the end the message was to be yourself, and people will (or won't) like you for who you are, but at least you're true to yourself.
Dislikes: hannah montana. i watched this show because i wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and i guess now i know. She is a somethingteen girl with a huge closet and a secret life as a rockstar. great. i think i would have loved it if i was twelve. i was surprised however to learn that she has a somewhat low and raspy voice, i was expecting high and whiny.
3. Extreme Makeover Home Edition, "Hughes Family" 2/18/08
Likes: This episode featured a blind nineteen year old who was also in a wheelchair and his family. ABC and the "design team" built them a new house. This show is usually a tear-jerker. But especially this one because the boy, Patrick Henry, was such a nice guy. His whole mantra was that we shouldn't look at people's disabilities but instead look at their abilities. Patrick Henry is very musical talented and he got a lot of screen time with his instruments. This is a feel good show.
Dislikes: i don't like that they only have one girl on the design team and like six guys. Girls are good with power tools too. Honestly i don't think that there is too much to say about this show as far as dislikes, other than sometimes it hits an 11 on the 1-10 cheesy rating scale.
