Wednesday Night TV
American Idol, FOX, 7:00pm: This show has always cracked me up. I've never watched an episode in its entirety, but I know the basic premise all too well. I guess what I like about the show is that it really does showcase talent. The men and women on the show are great singers. I don't like how fake it seems- all the girls basically look the same- all tall and thin and attractive. And to be honest, I really don't believe in all these reality shows. The producers call the shots- not the judges or the voters.
Cashmere Mafia, ABC, 9:00pm: I have never watched this show before but what I can gather from one episode is that there are four girlfriends who all have "power" jobs and it's about there work/social lives. Nothing about it intrigued me or seemed original. One of the first scenes was Lucy Lui walking around her apartment, playing with a dog, in high heels and sexy lingerie. The sexual pairings were race-specific. Lucy Lui with another Asian, and the three white women with white men. One of the female characters has a guy hunt her down in a park (stalking, much?), and a rich man tries to seduce another much younger woman with his money and power, and she says to her girlfriends that she likes it. I like that Lucy Lui ends things with Asian guy because they're not crazy about each other, but other than that- unimpressed.
CSI-New York, CBS: These crime shows always amaze with their highly attractive, wonderfully dressed forensic scientists, their unlimited resources and time to investigate murders, and their witty repartee. In this episode, they find a time travel machine, and a young girl dies from sexual excitement. More entertaining than the other two, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it. Sorry to be such a pessimist:)
