When I think of motherhood in popular culture, I think of the glue that holds the family together. Typically, mothers are seen as the person who takes care of their children and her main source of work is around the house. Seldomly do we see the mother working outside of the house. Generally, the mother is seen as a human being who exists to serve her husband and kids. Usually, these kinds of characteristics fit the description of the white, middle class family. When we see minority families on television, as well as lower income families, they are seen as a struggling family. They barely have to means to survive in life and will do anything to provide for their children. Mothers with different sexualities in popular culture are often looked down upon, although it is not seen as much as most of us might think. Often, they are looked at as unfit to be raising their children.
