Mothers always seem to play similar roles on television. I think they are portrayed as fairly attractive women who play the typical housewife. They prepare food, keep the house clean, and occasionally shoots some advice to her kids. The mothers are often stay at home moms living in middle to upper class homes. Their husbands on television typically hold a well paying job that supports the family. In many scenes on television they are only seen doing things that typical housewives may do, like the dishes, laundry, or some other form of cleaning.
Mothers on television with a higher power that stare away from the norm play the role of the mother that everyone wishes they had, but in a sense is not a very good role model or whatever. They accept topics everyday mothers would not tolerate, like dating, sex, and even drugs. I think that in todays views on typical culture, the mother and the father hold equal power in the household in real life.
Mothers in real life situations creates the type of mother they need to be, on television these situations are brought out dramatically.
