SRI CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Each year the Department of Sociology honors individuals with awards for excellence in research, teaching, teaching assistance, and service. The winners will be presented with a small monetary gift and a certificate of achievement during the Sociological Research Institute (SRI) awards ceremony on Saturday evening, April 21st.

Faculty, students, or staff may nominate candidates for awards, or you may nominate yourself. The nomination form available at the SRI website, or you may submit a detailed letter addressing the questions contained on the form. The number of nominations is not limited.

SRI CALL FOR PAPERS

Each year the Sociology Department celebrates student research at the Sociology Research Institute (SRI). Graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to present their works-in-progress and/or finished projects on any topic using a variety of different methods, techniques and approaches, as our goal is to promote as wide ranging a discussion as possible. Your work may be presented in a panel presentation, as part of a round table discussion, or as a poster. The majority of the presentations will be given throughout the day of Saturday, April 21st.

UNDERGRADUATE SOCIOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION (USA)

The Undergraduate Sociological Association (USA) is a forum for Soc majors to get connected with others in the Sociology Department here at the U of M. Regular USA meeting times and dates/topics for upcoming events and additional announcements will follow in a separate email messages. There is a USA announcement board in the basement of Blegen (can be seen as you walk on the ground floor from Soc Sci building towards Blegen).

The 17th annual Sociology Research Institute (SRI) will be held Friday, April 20 and Saturday April 21, 2007. Look for our Call for Papers and Award Nomination forms soon!

IMPORTANT SENIOR PROJECT REGISTRATION REMINDER

To ensure you get a seat in a section of senior project seminar, all majors need to remember to notify Ann Miller at least 2 semesters before you plan to register for Soc 4966W. You must be cleared for senior project seminar registration by the department.
