My Audience
The audience for my final paper is primarly the law makers in the United States. I am writing to them to propose a change in our criminal justice system, specifically a change in the prison system. I am proposing that they get rid of the mandatory sentancing laws for drug offenders and start a program that is based more on rehabilitation. Law makers would be the primary audience for this because they enacted the mandatory sentancing laws in the 1980s, and I am trying to show them that these laws are not effective.
