Podnova

I was trying to figure out what i was missing and it seems i never blogged about week 5 - podcasts. I went onto podnova and listened to movie reviews. I cannot wait until november 21 - Twilight......it will be interesting to see how it does at the box office. i was hoping they would do a midnight showing on the 20th - but my friend said that since this is so popular with tweens/teens that they won't do that since they won't want the kids to skip school on friday.....groan....

Thank you!

This course was so much fun! I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the topics. My favorites were learning about UMConnect and Zoho. I hope to implement some of the things I have learned at work and at home.
I hope to use UMConnect in the future at work and would most definitely take another class like this is in the future if it's offered.

UMConnect

This was really neat - and very simple to use too. I could probably use it with county staff if there is something we all need to take a look at - at the same time. The hard part would be to have everyone online at the same time! LOL

Twitter

I joined Twitter and did a search on Stephenie Meyer - an author that I am very interested in. I'm not sure what I would use Twitter for at this point. I seem to have enough with Facebook and MySpace - I hate to think of adding another site to keep updated. I will have to keep thinking on possible uses.....

Social Networking

I am already using Friendster - not so much and Facebook & MySpace. I am amazed by what kids say on the sites and the pictures that they post.
I was just thinking that it would be a great idea to start groups on Facebook for the county 4-H kids. You could post events on there and the kids could RSVP. Kids could write messages asking questions. Kids could connect with other kids in the county, etc. I just wonder if there are any rules against this - or who would monitor it for questionable content?

Zoho

It is so much fun to learn about all these resources that I never knew existed. I can't wait to share with others.
Like we had a bylaws document for a group that I belonged to. Some people had word - some word perfect - some microsoft works - so not everyone could open the document. I could have posted to the web and let everyone see it.
I tried out Zoho and made up a document just to see how it worked. Very close to word. Now when I am busy on the laptop my son can create word documents on our other computer - even though it doesn't have word on it!
Thanks for the great tips!

WIKI

4-H has been using WIKI so I am familiar with it. Plus I have used Wikipedia in the past and always have known that it is not 100% reliable since anyone can make changes to it.

I currently use Snapfish for photos online.
When I read about getting permission to post photos of others, I immediately thought of myspace and facebook where kids are posting pictures all the time. Could this become a huge issue in our society?

I signed up at bloglines and added a couple feeds. We'll see if it's suddenly something that I use every day.

August 7

I have never blogged before - but I have read others. I like to learn about stuff like this.

It's county fair time. Sibley County just had their fair July 30-August 3 so I am busy inputting their state fair registrations. As of today, they have 95 exhibitors.
Right now, Brown (Aug 5-10) & Nicollet (Aug 6-10) County are having their fairs so I wll be busy inputting their state fair registrations on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.
McLeod County is my last fair from August 12 -17.
