Radtke retires as President of Prairie State College

Dr  Radtke 2 color.jpgDr. Eric Radtke (MA '78) has served as the president of Prairie State College since 2008. His career has focused on community college executive leadership combined with a strong background in college operations. Prior to accepting the presidency of PSC, Dr. Radtke served as the Executive Vice President of Administration at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio.

Before joining Cuyahoga Community College, Dr. Radtke spent six years in the United Arab Emirates where he served as the chief planning, budget, and human resources officer (vice chancellor level) for the Higher Colleges of Technology, a system of 12 technical colleges serving 16,000 Emirati students across the UAE. For two of those six years, he also served as the acting chief academic and student services officer for the system.

Prior to his overseas experience, Dr. Radtke served as the Vice President of Finance and Operations for Minneapolis Community and Technical College. From 1985 to 1995, he served in various senior administrative roles for the 21-campus Minnesota Community College System, including chief finance and capital budget officer and director of legislative relations. From 1990 to 1995, his duties also included representing the community colleges in implementing the legislative mandate to merge the technical colleges, state universities and community colleges into a single new "mega-system" which today is known as Minnesota State Colleges and Universities or MnSCU. With the inauguration of the new system, he served as Deputy to the Chancellor for its first year. From 1980 to 1984, Radtke served the Minnesota Legislature as a fiscal and policy analyst for the House Appropriations Committee-Higher Education Division. Dr. Radtke started his career as a teacher in an alternative school for adolescents with special needs in central Wisconsin.

Dr. Radtke is a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he received his Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy and Administration and M.A. in Public Affairs from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. He has a bachelor's degree in Community Science (Psychology) from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.

Dr. Radtke has been married to Jane Eccles for 38 years and they are the parents of Caitlin Eccles-Radtke, M.D., and Erica Eccles-Radtke, Psy.D.
