CSTPP's Policy Catalyst blog and HHH Blog Index launch
The Humphrey Institute's Center for Science, Technology, and Public Policy is launching their blog, "Policy Catalyst." This is now the third Humphrey research center blog to come online, and you can find them all aggregated together at the new Humphrey blog index at http://blog.hhh.umn.edu along with the Institute Insider and An Affair to Remember, from the Public Affairs Student Association.
Here's how the center introduces the themes that the "Policy Catalyst" blog will cover:
Does science affect your life? Can technology improve what we do? We think so, and we want to improve the application of science and technology in solving public problems. To do that, not only do we need the top researchers toiling away at the problems of our time, we need government and the public to understand the complexity of our current Science and Technology frontiers, so that we can all engage in a pro-active democratic system.
Also, don't forget that in addition to CSTPP, the Center for Democracy and Citizenship also has been writing a blog on civic engagement called "By the People" since October. And both of these research center blogs are joining the long-running and popular "
Policy Catalyst, By the People, An Affair to Remember, and the Institute Insider were all created in a collaborative effort called "Emphasizing the 'Public' in Public Affairs", which shares resources and experience among the research centers to bolster the Institute's new media credentials and to get our research and events more of the public exposure they deserve. The project is led by MPP candidate Graham Lampa.
