The State and Local Policy Program, in collaboration with the regional policy and planning area, have launched a new blog called Regionalities. Led by Frank Douma, Lee Munnich, and research assistant Katrina Mitchell, Regionalities will examine local issues that have a global impact.
The latest post announces a new website just launched by the Center for Excellence in Rural Safety. Called Safe Road Maps, the website uses GIS techniques to layer traffic fatality data on top of Google Maps. Drivers and concerned citizens can view the distribution of every reported traffic fatality in the nation. Visitors to the site can enter their address to see the most dangerous intersections in their neighborhoods.
