New name, recognition for annual scholarships
In 1990, alumni created the Alumni Tuition Grant Program (ATGP) to help second-year and continuing students complete their degrees.
In April 2009, the Humphrey Institute Alumni Board of Directors voted to change the name of ATGP to the Humphrey Alumni Scholarship to reflect the financial needs of today's students.
The first "Humphrey Alumni Scholars" will be selected in the spring of 2010. Students are chosen based on three criteria:
* academic achievement
* professional promise
* financial need
Annual gifts of $1,000 or more to the Humphrey Alumni Scholarship are recognized through the new Humphrey Alumni Leadership Circle--a prestigious group of alumni and friends whose commitment to Humphrey students serves to inspire others.
The long-time weekly internal e-mail newsletter of the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs has gone Web 2.0.
