The Center for Science, Technology, and Public Policy (CSTPP) will host a conversation of a diabetes systems dynamics model at 2 p.m. on September 17 in the Stassen Room (173) at the Humphrey Center. To better understand the dynamics of obesity, prediabetes, and diabetes and their impact on mortality and health, in 2004 the CDC, Sustainability Institute, and Jack Homer began developing a diabetes systems dynamics model. Subsequently, California, Minnesota, and Vermont state health departments helped refine the model and explore it's usefulness for informing various decision-making processes. Jay Desai of the Minnesota Department of Health will present the development of the model, how it has been used to date, and future steps. The event is free. Please RSVP to cstpp@umn.edu.
