The Center on Women and Public Policy will host a discussion of This Child Will be Great: Memoir of a Remarkable Life by Africa's First Woman President by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at 5 p.m. in the Wilkins Room (215 Humphrey Center). Forbes lists Sirleaf, the 23rd president of Liberia and the first elected female president on the African continent, among the 100 Most Powerful Women in 2008. In and out of government, in and out of exile, but consistent in her commitment to Liberia, in her memoir Sirleaf reveals herself to be among the most resilient, determined, and courageous women as well. Ahmed Sirleaf, program associate with Advocates for Human Rights will be on hand to talk about her experiences traveling with "Ma Ellen" in Liberia.
