Before the Negotiations Begin: Minnesota Budget Deficit and Possible Solutions

Minnesota has a projected $5 billion over the next biennium. The House and Senate propose reduced spending without tax increases, while the governor's proposal includes a mixture of spending cuts and tax increases. Is there common ground to be found between the two plans? The Center for the Study of Politics and Governance will host a conversation with state leaders at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, in Cowles Auditorium at the Humphrey Center. Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch, Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives Kurt Zellers, Commissioner Jim Schowalter and Comissioner Myron Frans, and moderator Steve Sviggum.
