James L. Oberstar will present "a Perspective on a Career in Public Life" at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 6, in Cowles Auditorium at the Humphrey Center. The Former Congressman will discuss his career in public life and the influences that have led to his vision of transportation putting America first - that is, ahead of our parochial, partisan, and personal interests. Oberstar has ad a distinguished career spanning a half century as Congressman representing Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District and chair of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He recently joined the Humphrey School as a visiting scholar and chair of the advisory board for the University of Minnesota's Center for Excellence in Rural Safety. Oberstar's speech is part of the Martin Olav Sabo Lecture Series, which is named for the former Congressman as a forum for distinguished individuals to address the challenges of public servbice for our states and nation.
