Do candidates win states where conventions are held?

Larry Jacobs argues that location of national convention does not influence local voting.

There are a lot of factors in determining presidential winners and losers, but hosting a presidential nomination convention is not much of one, says Lawrence Jacobs, a University of Minnesota political science professor. "It's a very momentary factor," Jacobs said.
