Oberstar unveils Duluth's first electric car-charging station

James Oberstar weighs in on Duluth's policies and programs that support alternative modes of transportation.

Oberstar touted the federal Safe Routes to Schools program he initiated in 2000 that has used federal highway funds to build bike and walking trails from schools out into neighborhoods in 11,000 school districts nationwide, with more than 11 million students now using those routes. "It's changing the habits of an entire generation," Oberstar said, and helping curb obesity and diabetes among kids.
