Steve Ruggles, Regents Professor

Congratulations to Steve Ruggles, who has been named Regents Professor. The Regents Professorship is the highest rank the University of Minnesota offers and is limited to 25 positions. This is a great honor to Steve, one very richly deserved.

The Regents Professor position was established in 1965 by the Board of Regents to recognize the national and international prominence of faculty members. It serves as the highest recognition for faculty who have made unique contributions to the quality of the University of Minnesota through exceptional accomplishments in teaching, research and scholarship or creative work, and contributions to the public good.

Sara Evans

Sara Evans has been named the Ada Comstock Distinguished Women Scholar for fall 2008. Congratulations to Sara on a very well-deserved award!

This prestigious lecture series has been established to acknowledge and honor the scholarly accomplishments and leadership of distinguished women faculty at the University of Minnesota and to offer a forum for them to share their insights and ideas with a campus and community audience. One scholar from the sciences or engineering and one scholar from the humanities, arts, or social sciences will be selected to present a lecture, one during the fall semester and one during the spring semester.
