A while ago I encountered a very bright student who didn't necessarily see her potential and was rather nervous about embarking on a new job. She is a particularly analytical thinker and talented writer, but lacked confidence. At some point, I found myself saying to her "just try to have a patina of confidence" as she prepared for this uncertain and unknown time.
This blog will be about my musings working with students, projects, and people of many types in education and international development. So much of what we do somehow involves a patina of one type or another, so I may stick with the theme for a while until it loses it worn out yet comforting sentiment.
