Man arrested at Burnsville basketball game

A Minneapolis man was charged Friday for assaulting a youth basketball commissioner after a boys basketball game at Burnsville High School, according to documents filed at a Dakota County court.

Robin Johnson, 48, was charged with two counts of assault, interfering with a 911 call and disorderly conduct after punching Jeff Shand, 50, in the face and hitting a phone out of his hand, according to the Star Tribune.

Witnesses said that Johnson started taunting a player during free throws to make him miss when Shand approached him and told him to stop, according to charges.

Shand then took out his cell phone to call police, according to the Pioneer Press, and Johnson hit it out of his hand. Shand was then hit in the back of the head with a basketball, and when he turned around to look who had thrown it Johnson hit him in the jaw, the charges stated.

Shand was then treated by an oral surgeon who said he suffered three cracked molars, one of which was shattered and had to have fragments extracted.
