Last blog prompt and peer response of the semester!
This week we will be discussing convergence culture and fan culture through specific media texts (American Idol, romance novels).
In your blog post discuss a specific media text you see as illustrative of convergence or fan culture (could overlap). Use specific terms from the readings to discuss your media text. Your example must be new (not discussed in class) and hopefully something you are involved in//consume//already know about.
For example, I would write about My So Called Life and Jenkins' discussion of 'inspirational consumers' who thought the show could do no wrong and also pushed to keep the show alive (leading to MTV re-airing the series over and over for many many years).
This post could certainly be the beginnings of a section 5 paper, too! Let me know and I will give you extra feedback on your idea!
