Globalization and Industrialization

Globalization and Industrialization have taken sports to a whole new level in our society. With these two factors influencing our sports organizations, sports in themselves have been taken to a much higher level. Due to the effects that globalization and industrialization have had athletes have experienced more and more opportunities to elevate their sporting experience. A big example that I am familiar with is the globalization and industrialization of hockey. Growing up as a young kid the only option for the most part for kids was to play high school and hope for a college scholarship. The junior level programs were not as much as a factor in those times because the players were not competing at the high level they are today. Now, there are so many options for young hockey players. Options that include year around hockey camps, various junior leagues, and even specialized teams that develop young kids with the intent on moving them to the next level. The globalization and industrialization of sport has brought the game of hockey to such a high level that the NHL itself has become such a better league in the past 10 years because of it.
