The articles had talked about gender roles and gender stereotypes. Men are more aggressive and women, not so much. It is weird to us as a culture to see an overly aggressive woman, and this should not be the case. In order to combat the gender issues as a future sport director, I will try to hire females whenever possible. If there is a higher qualified male, considerations will have to be made. But for the most part, I would like to see a more equal variety of men and women in coaching and training positions. I also will make sure that there are equal opportunities for boys and girls in sports. It would be great if there could be pretty close to equal number of boys and girls participating in activities in a school. Stereotypes are common in leadership roles. Many believe men are more competent and have more expertise in leading than a female would. This issue will be combated when more females are hired in head positions. As a society, we need to move away from gender stereotypes. Women throwing punches in a hockey game should not be viewed any differently than a man throwing a punch in a hockey game! Both are just as bad.
